هدف فلج مغزی شامل ناهنجاری‌های غیر‌پیش‌رونده در مغزِ در حال رشد است که منجر به بروز مشکلات حرکتی و محدودیت‌های عملکردی در زندگی روزمره می‌شود. وجود مشکلات حرکتی در کودکان مبتلا به فلج مغزی به کاهش مشارکت در فعالیت‌های روزمره منجر می‌شود که یکی از جنبه‌های مهم سلامت و رشد کودک است و به رشد جسمانی و روانی‌اجتماعی او کمک می‌کند. مشارکت، رضایت از زندگی را ارتقا می‌بخشد. از طرفی دیگر، خانواده نقش برجسته‌ای در شناسایی و تأمین نیازهای رفاهی کودک دارد. همچنین خانواده نقشی اساسی در تضمین سلامت و رفاه کودکان ایفا می‌کند. به همین دلیل است که امروزه توجه به خدمات بهداشتی و مرتبط با رشد، از مدل کودک‌محور سنتی به مدل خانواده‌محور تغییر شکل داده است؛ از این رو فهم اولویت‌های والدین به منظور مشارکت در انجام فعالیت‌های روزمره زندگی کودکان برای ارائه خدمات مراجع‌محور بسیار حائز اهمیت است.
روش بررسی این مطالعه از نوع توصیفی‌تحلیلی است و شرکت‌کنندگان، ۷۸ کودک و نوجوان ۳ تا ۱۸ ساله مبتلا به فلج مغزی و والدینشان در شهر یزد بودند. نمونه‌گیری به صورت دردسترس بود؛ بدین ترتیب که از میان همه مراکز خصوصی و دولتی توانبخشی استان یزد، بر حسب قرعه‌کشی یک مرکز دولتی و دو مرکز خصوصی انتخاب و نمونه‌ها از بین مراجعان به مراکز مذکور انتخاب شدند. اولویت‌های والدین برای مشارکت کودکان در فعالیت‌های روزمره زندگی از طریق مصاحبه نیمه‌ساختاریافته و با کمک مقیاس عملکردی کانادایی بر اساس درکشان از عملکرد کودک و میزان رضایتشان از سطح عملکردی کودک ارزیابی شد. این اولویت‌ها در سه حوزه مراقبت از خود، مولد‌بودن و اوقات فراغت و عملکرد کاری دسته‌بندی شد. همچنین سطح عملکرد حرکتی درشت کودک بر اساس سیستم طبقه‌بندی عملکرد حرکتی درشت به پنج سطح طبقه‌بندی شد. تجزیه و تحلیل آماری داده‌های به‌دست‌آمده با نسخه ۱۶ نرم‌افزار SPSS انجام شد. به منظورتوصیف داده‌ها از شاخص میانگین، انحراف معیار و آزمون کای‌دو در جدول توافقی با نسبت درست نمایی استفاده شد.۴
یافته‌ها در این مطالعه میانگین سنی کودکان شرکت کننده ۸/۱۲ با انحراف معیار ۴/۲۲ گزارش شد. مهم‌ترین اولویت کارکردی گزارش‌شده از سوی والدین کودکان مبتلا به فلج مغزی، فعالیت‌های مراقبت از خود بوده است. تحرک نیز دومین اولویت مهم کودکان در زندگی روزمره شناخته شده است. همچنین نتایج به‌دست‌آمده از تجزیه و تحلیل آماری نشان داد بین گروه‌های سنی و سطوح مختلف حرکتی ارتباط معناداری در اولویت‌های گزارش‌شده یافت نشده است (P۰/۰۵).
نتیجه‌گیری والدین اولویت‌های کارکردی را در ابعاد عملکردی مشابهی در گروه‌های سنی و سطوح کارکرد حرکتی درشت مختلف کودکان فلج مغزی گزارش دادند که عمدتاً متمرکز بر فعالیت‌های مراقبت از خود است. این مسئله انعکاسی است از آرزوی والدین برای رفع نیازهای مراقبت از خود، از جانب کودک که نه‌تنها به کاهش فشارهای مراقبتی منجر می‌شود، بلکه به ارتقای مشارکت در فعالیت‌های اجتماعی و استقلال در زندگی فردی منجر می‌شود. اولویت مهم دیگر در زمینه مراقبت از خود، تحرک است؛ چراکه کودکان فلج مغزی برای مدیریت فعالیت‌های روزمره به تحرک نیاز دارند.
